The brief called for the refurbishment of the original brick veneer, tiled roof cottage. Inferior materials and detailing, inadequate roof slope for tiling, lack of eave protection etc. all contributed to the deterioration of the existing building.
Given the desirable waterfront location and northerly aspect, upgrading made sense. The result is a transformed spacious contemporary residence, adaptable for use as a weekender or permanent home. The quality finishes include wide recycled hardwood floors and stairs, large stone tiles, Corian integrated sink, cooktop island kitchen. Externally, low maintenance finishes prevail - teak first floor deck, grit blasted stainless steel verandah structure and upstanding seam metal roof.
